
Dr. Dmowski.
W. Paul Dmowski M.D.,Ph.D. has devoted more than 35 years to the academic career and clinical practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility (RE/I). He has
acquired national and international recognition for his scholarly
research in the field of Endometriosis. He is the author or
co-author of more than 150 scientific papers in professional journals and 45 textbooks or
textbook chapters. He is a member of numerous editorial boards and a referee for many
medical and scientific journals. Dr. Dmowski has presented more than 200 scientific
reports to national and international professional societies and is a frequent guest
speaker at national and international meetings. He has received numerous awards from
professional societies for his contributions in the field of RE/I.
Dr. Dmowski's studies have been quoted in local and national press, as
well as on television, including the public television series NOVA. He has appeared on
programs on NBC. CBS, ABC, and FOX networks. He holds two doctoral degrees:
an M.D. from the Warsaw Academy of Medicine (1962) and a Ph.D. in Endocrinology form the
School of Graduate Studies, Medical College of Georgia (1967-1971). He received his
residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Ottawa General Hospital
(1962-1964), and at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York (1964-1967). He completed a
research fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology (1967-1969) under the direction of one
of the pioneers of this discipline, Professor Robert B. Greenblatt.
Dr. Dmowski holds
specialty board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1973 and in Reproductive
Endocrinology since 1974. Dr. Dmowski's academic career began at the University of Chicago
Pritzker School of Medicine where he held faculty appointments between 1971 and 1979 as an
Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He
was also co-director of the Section of Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility Unit at
Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. From 1979-1981, Dr. Dmowski served
as a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock,
where he directed the Section of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Since
returning to the Chicago area in 1981, he has held a faculty appointment as Professor of
Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rush Medical College. There he established the Section of
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and served as its director for 7 years. During
that time he established the fellowship training program in Reproductive Endocrinology and
Infertility and developed the In vitro Fertilization Program at Rush-Presbyterian-St.
Luke's Medical Center. At Grant Hospital, he established the Family Fertility Center. Dr.
Dmowski is also a founder and director of the Institute for the Study and Treatment of
Endometriosis, and the Oak Brook
Fertility Center.
Dr. Dmowski is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and
of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is a fellow of the
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Society
for Reproductive Medicine. He is also active in numerous national and international
